Frequently asked questions

If I measure multiple reeds with the accordion tuner then I don't see all the reeds.
What is causing this?

This can have the following causes:
1. The number of reeds does not correspond to the configured number in the tuner. This number can be
    configured with the 'Reeds' button.
2. The tuner can tune up to 3 reeds at the same time. When measuring single notes, these reeds must be
in the same note. The reeds can not be divided over multiple octaves. When measuring chords, each note
of the chord must contain one reed. All reeds must be in the same octave then. When measuring octaves,
each reed must be in a different octave.
3. If the microphone is placed on one side of the accordion then it is possible that the reeds that are on the other
side are received too soft. In that case, the microphone must be placed differently.
4. When two reeds have exactly the same frequency (less than 0.6 Hertz difference) then the tuner sees them
as one reed. See chapter 27 of the manual for more information about the accuracy of the tuner.

What type of microphone should I choose for the tuner?

In practice a simple dynamic microphone that is often provided with the sound card proves to work well. The frequency range of such a cheap microphone is in most cases not known. Especially for the lower tones, a qualitative better dynamic microphone can give better results. The frequency range of this microphone must then run from 20 Hz to 10 kHz at least. The much more expensive condenser microphones are usable, but don't give a better result. Digital effects in the microphone software must be disabled. See chapter 7 of the manual for more information about the choice and placement of the microphone.

I lost your program. What can I do?

If you deleted or de-installed the program then you can re-install it (on the same computer) with the setup file that you received from me. If you lost the setup file then you can send me an e-mail. I will send you the setup file again then.

I am waiting for an update of my program. How can I stay informed?

Below the button 'News' on top of the website, you can subscribe for the news letter. If there are new updates with for example support for a new language or a new operating system then I will communicate that with this news letter. You can also regularly check the website of course.

The computer that I want to use your program on does not have an internet connection.
Is this a problem?

No, your computer does not need an internet connection to run my programs. If you download the program then you can save it on a memory stick or diskette and then install it on the computer that you want to use it on.

Your program or manual is not in my language. When will my language be supported?

I cannot say that. I am dependent on people that help me for translations. As soon as a program or manual is translated then I will see to it that it is available on the website. If you want to help with a translation then please send me an e-mail with the link at the bottom of this page.

I have an idea for an improvement of one of your programs. What should I do with it?

You can send your idea to me in an e-mail (with the link at the bottom of this page). I put all ideas on a wish list and choose the best ideas for the next version. I am constantly improving my programs and try to build in as many ideas as possible. Ideas for new products are also welcome.

What is the red code meant for?

Every computer has a unique red code (ABCD-1234). This red code is part of my copy protection. The program that you bought can only run on the computer with the red code that you gave me. I know that copy protections are annoying, but unfortunately the past has proven that this is really necessary. The copy protection is necessary to make sure that I can further improve my programs and release new (often free) updates. If you replace your computer then you can send me the new red code and I will see to it that the program can be moved to your new computer. The red code does not change when you re-install Windows or format your hard drive.
