Great program. The ability to measure up to 3 reeds at once speeds up tuning a good deal. One suggestion for an update would be enabling the record and report function for simultaneous octaves, as it already works for musette tuned reeds. You can record the octaves separately, but this does not account for the fact that reeds will sometimes have a slightly different pitch in different registers because of the change in air pressure. Another improvement I would make would be the ability to set the target pitch (as in A440 or 441) after measuring all the reeds, based on an average pitch that the program would calculate. Many times I have tested a few notes and decided on a target tuning, only to find after half an hour or more of measuring that the instrument as a whole is closer to another target pitch, requiring me to start the whole process over with a different target pitch.

Excellent Product. I am quite pleased with the ease of use. After learning to use the tuning lever all aches and pains, headaces and frustration was over. I think it was the first time my piano was so finely tuned. I am still learning to do this by ear but I am quite pleased with what I have been able to accomplish with the Dirk's piano tuner.

I found the program easy to load and use. My only problem is I allowed a faux computer service to work on my PC and they corrupted it when I was halfway through tuning my piano. I was horrified til I realized I was down to fine tuning the last strings so I should be able to just sound all the strings to get my best curve again and fine tune those that are left! I will have to download the program again which the user comments said is possible! [Dirk: No problem, it's solved already]

I also much appreciate the technical support (answers to questions prior to buy the software, and technical support... my bad - I made some errors when I first installed the software, then I was again lost when I updated the BIOS of my laptop...). A real good product. I bought Dirk's Pianotuner after testing several tuning applications all with capability to deliver a stretched tuning curve by setting some initial parameters depending on type and size of grand/piano and some allow recording some keys to measure inharmonics. The really smart functions with Dirk's program that it optimize the best tuning curve by examine millions of intervalls and chose the right interval for the specific part, low bass, low middle part etc. Shortly, it take in account your specific piano. The software is user friendly with a clean user interface. The recording phase was surprising very quick done an took me only about 20 minutes and all keys could be recorded. The tuning was a great pleasure with good support from the precise graphs. Then it's still up to you how skilled you are with the tuning hammer. The end result sounds really good in my ears and I will warmly recommend Dirk's Pianotuner.

Very good program, very easy to use and very good stretching calculation. Of course a few bass strings, the most difficult to be tuned, need some adjustments by ear finding the best compromise between octaves, thirds and sixth but most of them are already ok from the calculation. I have had 2 university piano technicians check my piano (7' Baldwin SF10) after tuning with your program. One said "Do you want a job?", and the other said "I'm glad you already have a job, because you could put me out of business!"
I can hear beats and tune unisons and octaves by ear, but it is so much easier being able to use your program. I even use ear plugs while tuning and just use the meter. I usually start in the middle section and go down, tune the middle string of trichords, one string of bichords, and the single bass strings. Then start in the middle and tune the middle string going up. Then start in the middle going down and tune the other strings of each note, then the other strings from the middle to the top. It's almost like a pitch raise, and seems like it might be more trouble, but I think it helps keep previously-tuned strings from getting pulled out of tune.
Then I check every note by ear (without earplugs!) with all strings sounding to make sure there are no beats. I might have to re-adjust 3 or 4 notes at most, and continue to use the meter to decide which string is out. I don't do a bunch of checking with 4ths, 5ths, etc., but just trust your program to take care of that.
The first tuning took around 5 hours because I had to learn how to use a tuning hammer. To me, the 2 main secrets are to make sure the string is lowered or relaxed into pitch rather than pulled up and stopping; and also make sure to hit the note pretty hard occasionally to make sure the tension is even in the whole string. After tuning about 10 pianos - some of friends - I am down to 2-3 hours. A professional tuner is usually faster, but I get a lot of satisfaction knowing I can tune my own piano.

Have a small harmonica repair shop in nashville ... I use this tuner every day.... For me there is no other...For special tunings it is so on the money... it's scary... you can set it up for what ever situation you're dealing with at the time..tune chords right down to how many beats you want... this is so much more than just a good tuner.. and when you screw something up they are right there to fix it... which for me is a BIG plus well worth every penny...it's bad ass

No other software that I know of is capable of detecting up to three pitches at once...so Dirk's can measure the amount of tremolo but also tell you which notes are 'off' when tuning the bass side..and bass side tuning is probably the hardest thing to get right. I have the record and report addon as well, so it's great for analysis. Not sure where to start with an accordion? Analyse it first, to work out how it has been tuned and where you need to focus your attention. It's an essential tool really, and worth the money.

I'm extremely happy with my decision to both tune my own piano and buying this software which has proved to be a solid, stable program with no glitches, how rare is that. I paid for 3 tunes the first year after the purchase of my piano, from 2 different tuners and my first attempt tuning using Dirk's was much, much better. Your good to go on the piano tuning software. Fyi, it's not a piece of cake turning all the pins so prepare for a learning curve but also the best your piano ever sounded. My tuners came highly recommend from a local store but I think it takes more time than they wanted to take and also think they don't tune every string to the perfect note. Plan on 4 to 6 hours your first time.

I just used Dirk's Piano Tuner for Windows for the first full tuning. It is VERY accurate and the graphics plus digital display make it easy to determine the exact point at which the ideal pitch for each note has been attained. To me it is the most helpful with the highest and lowest notes, and it is great to not have to lay the bearing or guess at what the ideal stretch is. The result was great!

Unbelievable, my week at Linard was even more than I hoped for. First of all the 2 people Ben and Inez who are like a warm blanket. Ben is really superb in his knowledge of (grand) piano’s, materials, and tuning and the same classification counts for Inez as a lovely host and cook. My goal was to learn tuning a grand, so I would be confident to tune my own Sauter Delta 185. After my first experience of tuning my own piano, (an upright SAMICK S-108s bought in 1991), I can say that it is a very good and easy to use application. The piano is perfectly tuned. The disadvantage is only that the first time you tune a piano, a lot of time is needed for the recording, and then the tuning. This took me more than 2,5 hours, maybe also because it was my first experience.

I am having sever problems with the original PC that Dirk's Full Accordion Tuner was installed on. Since I was unable to get windows 10 to start and therefore couldn't start any of my installed software I contacted Dirk's to see whether there was anything I could do. Dirk was very helpful by responding immediately. I am now able to use the product on one of my other PC's. I am absolutely happy with the product. This course is amazing. How Ben has jam packed so many areas of learning into a week and deliver it with ease and enthusiasm is incredible.
I attended the course with my husband and both of us thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to get tuning pianos in Australia. We learnt so much and had so much fun. Ben provides a hands on learning approach and it was wonderful to get practice at tuning both grand and upright pianos.
The accommodation is beautiful as well. My family stayed with us in the cottage and it was so cosy and lovely. My two young daughters loved spending the day on the property and seeing the wildlife and cows. An experience not typical to the Australian tourist where we all experienced the enrichment of French culture in the countryside.
The meals are amazing. Inez's home cooked meals are delicious and you certainly won't go hungry. Such a treat to have a meal prepared for you between the study.
It was wonderful to get to know Ben and Inez. They are so welcoming and friendly. Also meeting the others doing the course. In the evenings we would stay up and chat, play music, watch videos. We certainly gained new friends after the week had ended.
Thanks Ben and Inez for having us. It was such a beautiful experience and we will keep in touch with our progress tuning pianos .

This was a wonderful and professionally presented course. Piano tuning, restoration, regulation and repair are just some of Ben's many talents.
Ben has a fully-equipped workshop and is full of practical know-how on just about any piano-related subject you can think of.
The setting is beautiful, nestled amongst the flowing hills and valleys in rural France.
Mention must also be made of Inez' food included with the course. Each meal was amazing and delicious. Homely food cooked from the heart.

With a bit of patience you'll tune your piano perfectly, and will make the sound of it sparkle, even if you never tuned a piano before. What great user support! Emailed about Piano Tuner not working after MacOS upgrade to 10.12. Had a response in 30 minutes (1 am NL time), new download with the problem fixed.
And, of course, the software works great. I have a professional tuner come in once or twice a year, because he has a super ear and makes my Boston grand just sing. But in between times I can touch up and keep things sounding pretty good. Thanks, Dirk, for a great product!

I am a retired 'Professional Experimenter' and have used this great software in learning how accordions are put together and tuned. I have not found anything that works as well and does as much as Dirk's Accordion Tuner software. All in one package as well. The recordings eliminate a lot of sometimes illegible handwritten notes. One current project is to convert a Weltmeister CBA with LMMH ranks, to one that converts the picolo to an M rank. I can then tune LMMM for a true mussette sound.
My other project was to construct a single-keyboard Hammond organ from components obtained from Ebay. Dirk's Accordion Tuning software was a tremendous help wiring the tone generator, keyboard, and sliders together. Next up, the tremolo assembly.
Lucky for my wife, I do not have room for a Lin-o-Type machine - what a way to retire!

I bought Dirk's piano tuner because of what I believe are diminishing standards of conventional tuning near where I live. I am not a trained tuner but am a perfectionist in piano matters. I can thoroughly recommend Dirk's tuner to anyone wanting to tune their own piano to a very high professional standard. The personalised stretch for my Model A Steinway grand sounds excellent, the tuner gives clear and accurate readings to within fractions of a cent and is easy to use. I've got Dirk's Piano Tuner few months ago. I am tuning my 218cm piano regularly with it now and I must say my piano was newer tuned better. Much better than tunings of my professional tuner.
Dirk's stretched tuning simply sounds amazing. You will have to adapt your ears to slightly wide thirds, but the fifths are more close to pure. The tuner itself is very simple to use and very precise. For nearly thirty years I was frustrated with most of the time out of tune piano, which is I think, the serious problem of all the sensitive piano players. Now it takes me four hours every month or so, and I am more happy than ever.
One month ago, I've tuned my friend's almost new Steinway D, and he was totally impressed.
I recommend the Dirk's Tuner to every pianist, who has some ability to handle the tuning hammer or has will to learn how to use it (I recommend a good quality carbon hammer). It will make your life much much better.

Ben Verbon is truly a modern-day renaissance man who is extremely knowledgeable, skilled and proficient in so many pursuits. He is not only a master machinist, fabricator, woodworker, building constructor, artisan & craftsman, but also a very accomplished athlete! His patience and ability to share his knowledge makes this course most enjoyable.
I purchased Dirk’s piano tuning software six months before attending Ben’s workshop. Although it is an excellent tool, I struggled with the basic mechanical aspects of piano tuning. After attending Ben’s workshop, I became significantly more accomplished and confident as a piano tuner. The hands-on training combined with Ben’s aural tuning techniques have helped me achieve fantastic results with the 6 pianos I’ve tuned in the past few weeks.
The small group size allowed for individualized learning, and also gave students a chance to share cultures, experiences, and make new friends from around the globe.
This course is set in an idyllic retreat in the French countryside that is so peaceful, picturesque and unspoiled, that I really hated to go back home! To top it all off, Inez’s daily homemade, garden-fresh meals were just fabulous! It would be well worth it to come here just to visit and get away from the daily grind. In fact, I plan to take the course again, because there are so many topics and techniques that are really worth experiencing and paying for again!

I have in recent years started collecting some of the classic accordions in the world. I have with the help of some friends learned a lot about accordion repairs.

I used the original Dirk’s tuner for the past 6 (?) years and built a reputation as one of the best tuners of melodeons in the UK, using that software. Obviously, part of that is down to my understanding of pitch/setting/taper etc ... but Dirk’s tuner is capable of allowing me to carry out the work I want to the accuracy required. Since I purchased it, the Professional version has features that have taken my work to another level... especially the octave and chord features.
