  • Action repair (replacing pivots, felt parts, springs, leather, etc.)
  • Types of glue and their application
  • Replacing key bushings
  • Repair of balance holes and worn out screw holes
  • Levelling the keys
  • Determining hammer size and hammer bore distance
  • Hammer replacement (preparation, installation, travelling, alignment with strings, etc.)
  • Replacing, repairing and adjusting the catchers
  • Dampers: felt replacement, installation, adjustment, replacing felt on the damper-guide rail
  • Agraffes: repair, replacement and adjustment. Repairing existing agraffes
  • Pinblock replacement (in a grand)
  • Tuning pins: determining drill size in pinblocks, installation of tuning pins and bushings
  • String replacement. Pulling up a new set of strings to tuning level safely
  • Bridge repair and bridge pin replacement
  • Soundboard: judgement and repair
  • Measuring downbearing and adjustment
  • Repair of capo bars
  • Voicing the hammers
  • Tools: they come up in every subject

The Instructor
The course is given by Ben Verbon. During a period of two years, Ben and Dirk developeded the piano tuner together. Ben has a lot of knowledge and experience in the field of tuning and restoring pianos.
